Award Winners

I was so glad to fly for the first time to Tokyo! There, I discovered the friendly crew of Short Shorts Film Festival and directors from all over the world.

I feel greatly honored to receive this award for my short film “Fils de Justicier” (Son of the Avenger) I wish to thank SSSF and the Dior CHRISTAL Award.

I will never forget those 6 days in Tokyo and those precious moments, when a Japanese audience told me how moved they were to see my film, which had come from the other side of the world to reach them!

It was a great shame to be the prize winner who wasn’t there!
However in spirit I was in Tokyo - especially as during the festival I was continuously eating sushi and teriyaki, drinking sake and even attended a karaoke evening. I was so depressed not to be there that I nearly committed seppuku (harakiri). Instead of that I did the next best thing and wrote a poem, originally in Russian, but here is a very rough translation in English:

The cherry tree blossoms and wilts before one can gasp.
Time passes so fast!
I wanted so much to get to the Festival but like a snail racing up Mount Fuji I failed...
