Award Ceremony will be held at Meiji Jingukaikan on July 2nd! It will be such an exciting experience to be at the ceremony to witness this year's winners. After each screening, we have a Q&A session with filmmakers. Audiences are encouraged to ask any questions they may have for filmmakers and their short films.

2007.06.28 Road to Hollywood - Special Talk Event-
Starting off with this year's Academy Award nominations by three Mexican creators, Arejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (BABEL: Directing), Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth: Original Screenplay), and Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men: Cinematographym Film Editing, Adapted Screenplay), Mexican talent is now gaining its popularity and fame in Hollywood. We will be screening 4 Mexican short films and invite a guest speakers to talk about short films in Mexico.

2007.06.27 Genius Party: Special Talk Event with Mr. Masaaki Yuasa

While Japanese animation is gaining its popularity all over the world, one of the keenest animators gather to work on the project called "Genius Party". SSFF&ASIA2007 presents 3 short films from the project and invites one of the animators, Mr. Masaaki Yuasa, to talk about the project and his film "Happy Machine".

2007.06.26 Special Guests: "German Program"
One of the special programs this year is "German Program" which includes short films from two accredited German filmmakers, Tom Tykwer and Wolfgang Petersen. The program also presents some short films created by young German filmmakers such as Thomas Frohlich and Florian Gallenberger who are also the invited guest speakers for the program. Robin Mallick from the Filmfest Dresden-International Short Film Festival and this year's jury also joins the Q&A with us to talk about his festival and short films in Germany.

2007.06.25 SSFF & ASIA 2007 started today!

With the festival banner hanging up on the outside of Laforet, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2007 has opened its gate today. Starting off with the Opening Event which introduced the Jury members and presented this year's Spotlight Award (Ms. Seiko Matsuda) and Special Mention (Ms. Jennifer Aniston). The venue was packed with excited audiences and media.
For the following program, Special 2, with short films of Takashi Shimizu and Keisuke Toyoshima, we again had full audience participation.

2007.06.23 YOSHIMOTO DIRECTOR’S 100
YOSHIMOTO DIRECTOR'S 100 - 100 Japanese comedians make 100 short films! -
On June 21st, Yoshimoto, one of the biggest talent agency for comics, announced the project called "YOSHIMOTO DIRECTOR'S 100"which is to create 100 short films a year, directed/starred by their registered comedians.
Last year, SSFF&ASIA awarded Mr. Gori (one of Yoshimoto's popular comedians) the Spotlight Award for his short film "Dick Boggy" starring himself as a detective, and his new short film "Boggy, The Hero" will be shown at Jinbocho Kagetsu (www.fandango.co.jp/jimbocho/) that will be open on July 7th. Mr. Gori produced "Boggy, The Detective" as a part of this project.
He will also be a presenter for this year's Spotlight Award at the Opening Event.
This summer, you will experience a fantastic collaboration of "Japanese comics" and "short films"!

2007.06.22 HARTZLINK CO., LTD presents: “Special Seminar with Mr. Hiroyuki Nakao”
On Saturday, June 23rd, one of our festival sponsors, HARTZLINK CO., LTD will hold a special seminar with Mr. Hiroyuki Nakao whose short film, "THE SECRET SHOW", won the Best Short Award at SSFF&ASIA2004. His works including "THE SECRET SHOW", "ZERO", "trainsurfer" and "STEAM HEAD" are not only funny and exciting, but moving as well. His lecture hosted by SSFF&ASIA last year at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography was quite successful and the audience loved it. This was apparent with the overwhelming amount of questions they asked him.
If you are interested in filmmaking or love movies, this is the place to be!

2007.06.22 Close on the entries for the opening event!
First of all, we would like to thank all of you who applied for the opening event. We have received more entries than we expected! Now we closed the entries on June 21st at noon (JST).
Winners will be notified via e-mail with detailed information on how to attend the event on June 22nd. All you need to do is to print the e-mail you will receive from us and bring it with your ID to the venue.
